  • High cholesterol levels that don’t respond to medication could be due to an undiagnosed or poorly treated thyroid condition.

It is very important to understand that every patients therapy will be different. There is no cookie cutter dosage or treatment plan when it comes to Thyroid Hormone Therapy. How the body absorbs hormones, along with the amount of hormones any specific body will need can vary dramatically. It is also extremely important that your treatment plan be individualistic to you and your body. With this being the case, you should expect some degree of customization to find a dosage and form of therapy that will work best for you.

Thyroid Hormone Replacement Therapy is a very individualized treatment process, and is highly effective when prescribed properly. In most cases the goal of the therapy is to normalize your thyroid stimulating hormone levels (TSH). With this being said- it is extremely important to have a Pharmacist that will take the time to sit down with you and discuss in detail what you are expecting from your treatment, what goals can be accomplished, and what will need to be done to reach those goals.

What is Thyroid Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Hypothyroidism is a condition classified by an under-active thyroid gland, when the thyroid does not produce enough hormones. There are various treatments available, but the basic concept is the same and it’s known as thyroid hormone replacement therapy.

T3 and T4 are thyroid hormones that control your body’s metabolism. If you don’t have enough of them, then your metabolism slows down. Your metabolic rate dictates how quickly you process food, how fast your heart beats, how much your heat body creates, and even how quickly you can think. In essence, T3 and T4 are in charge of how your body uses energy.
